Chronology of cameras Olympus Hyundai

Hyundai Electronics Industries Co., better known as Hyundai Electronics (now SK hynix), was founded in 1983. It is the semiconductor branch of the South Korean conglomerate Hyundai Group (with origins dating back to 1947).

Following Samsung Precision's partnership with Minolta in 1979, in the 1980s, several Cheabols sought to establish technological partnerships with Japanese manufacturers of photographic equipment.
For Hyundai Electronics, the partnership began in 1989 with Olympus as their Japanese partner1.

Hyundai camera exports to the United States commenced as early as 19902.
After the models produced in cooperation with Olympus, Hyundai marketed compact cameras under its own brand.

__________

This Olympus-Hyundai AZ-330 Panorama is none other than the Olympus AZ-330 Superzoom, with one difference in accessories: the Superzoom user manual does not mention panoramic shooting, while the Panorama user manual explains how to use the adapter that fits into the dark chamber, prior to loading the film, to capture images in the 13x36mm format. This accessory does not allow you to switch back to the 24x36mm format mid-roll.

According to the user manual, the same adapter is used for the Olympus Hyundai IS-2000 and Hyundai Super Zoom 850 models.

A few other differences from the Japanese version:

- The presence of the Hyundai brand name in Chinese characters preceding all instances of the Olympus brand.
- The model presented lacks any indication of the manufacturing country, unlike the Olympus AZ-330 Superzoom models found on online retail sites, which all have the "Made in Japan" label.
- The weight of 620g as indicated in the Hyundai manual (610g in the Olympus AZ-330 Superzoom manual).

Common features include:

- A remote control for remote triggering, integrated with the lens cap, featuring two delay settings: 1 second and 3 seconds.
- Light metering, predominantly center-weighted, with the option to switch to spot metering.
